Does Lafayette have its own rule?

No. La. R.S. 23:1592, 23:1474(I) and 23:1595 (Act 412 of 2024); LWC Benefit Rights Information (Rev. 05/2026) applies across Louisiana, so a claim from Lafayette is decided by the same numbers as one filed anywhere else in the state. What changes locally is which workforce office you deal with in person and how busy it is — not the weekly amount or the number of weeks.

What the statute says

La. R.S. 23:1592, 23:1474(I) and 23:1595 (Act 412 of 2024); LWC Benefit Rights Information (Rev. 05/2026) — Louisiana Workforce Commission — unemployment insurance benefit rights information. For 2026 claims the weekly benefit is 1/25 of your average base-period quarterly wage (total wages ÷ 4 ÷ 25), never less than $35 nor more than $282 — the cap rose from $275 on January 1, 2026 because the trust fund crossed the $1.15 billion trigger in La. R.S. 23:1474 (Procedure 3). Since Act 412 of 2024 (claims filed on or after January 5, 2025) the duration slides with the statewide unemployment rate: 12 weeks when the three-month average rate is 5% or lower, one extra week per half-point, up to 20 weeks at 8.5% or more; at Louisiana's current sub-5% rate new claims get 12 weeks. No dependents' allowance.
